Hi, I'm Jaime!
I am a Graduate Game Designer based in Dundee, Scotland, having recently completed my degree in Games Design and Production at Abertay University.
During my time in university, I have studied a wide range of subjects across Game Design, Game Art, and QA, and have become familiar with a wide range of software including UE4/5, Unity, Maya, and Zbrush. I have developed a very broad range of knowledge through this, allowing me a greater understanding of many disciplines, but have been focusing on generalist game design and mechanics design in recent years.
Particularly, a lot of my work explores player behaviour and psychology. I recently developed OutLord, a board game that focuses on competitive player dynamics, and my Honours Project - Herbal Wytchcraft, explores how video games can be used as tools for relaxation.
I'm searching for all Internships and Junior roles within Games Design, based remotely or hybrid in Dundee.

Relevant Experience
Aside from university work, I have completed multiple extracurricular projects that have given me lots of hands-on industry experience.
In 2021 I worked on an internship with SSE Thermal alongside 3 of my peers to create a game that was showcased at the COP26 convention in Glasgow. I worked as both a designer and artist on this project. The game was a great success at the convention and went on to receive praise from BAFTA and the Duke of Cambridge. Read about my work on this project here.
In 2022, I submitted a game concept to BAFTA's Young Games Designers Competition and became the winning entrant in my category. You can read about this concept here. I was later invited to present the award for Best Games Design at the 2023 BAFTA Awards with a fellow winner.
Also in 2022, I completed another internship creating gamified training scenarios for a global company. I got to work on a preexisting project, working inside a custom-built narrative/dialogue system, relying solely on documentation to implement my designs. And then in early 2024, I completed another internship with Socialudo - a company based out of Stirling University making serious board games about social issues. I was working alongside another designer to develop a board game concept and prototype for their next game which was to be used to educate and facilitate conversation surrounding the environment, housing, and aging.
Currently, I am a finalist in Abertay's DARE Academy making Partners in Slime - a chaotic puzzle game about two sweetheart slimes and their antics. We will be showcasing this game at EGX in October of this year - so watch this space!
More About Me
Aside from game design, I like to keep busy with a range of hobbies and interests.
For one, I really love puzzles like nonograms, sudoku, and jigsaws (I LOVE the Professor Layton series), and make a habit of doing some puzzles every night before bed. I also am a big fan of art and stained glass making, although I don't get much time for it. And I, of course, love playing games too, and am a huge fan of the "cozy" gaming genre, with some of my favourite games that I commonly draw inspiration from being Stardew Valley, Lake, and Papers, Please.
